11/16 Listening Guide

Joy in All Circumstances – Philippians 4:4-20

Introduction

Who do you know who seems to exude peace, wherever he or she goes?  Today’s lesson helps us become that kind of Christian.

In the midst of conflict – Worry and prayer are mutually exclusive.  If you are praying, you cannot be worrying; if you are worrying, you cannot be praying.  Christ is there in the midst of conflict; finding Him is simply a matter of focus.

In times of need – In a materialistic culture like ours, true happiness is not in getting what you want, but in wanting what you have.  Under what circumstances is having Christ NOT enough?  God’s cure for your neediness is to minister to the needs of someone else.  Who else but God could make that work?

This week – Learning to be a non-anxious presence in otherwise anxious moments is a part of our testimony as Christians.

For your next 165 hours: Practice non-anxious responses to difficulty.

  1. Today…my circumstances were just to much. And instead of reacting, I prayed and looked to the Lord. This evening I opened my email only to find my assignment for the next week—Joy in All Circumstances. I’ve missed ya’ll, but I am very grateful for the connection even if it is via email. God bless…hope to see you soon.

  2. Alice-

We have prayed for you and for your Dad. We’ve missed you and love you very much. Thanks for this note. See you soon!
