This Changes Everything – Colossians 1:15-23

Introduction

Knowing Jesus changes everything, so much so that our entire Winter study (starting December 7) will be about his life and his ministry.  In this brief passage in Colossians, Paul reminds us of some important things about Jesus, and some important things about us.

▪ About Jesus – It would be a mistake to limit our understanding of Jesus to His 33 years of human acts.  Jesus is the visual expression of God, creator ans sovereign.  He accomplished victory over death and reconciliation of a broken world.

▪ About Us – Without Christ we are hopelessly separated from God; without His Spirit in us we are incapable of knowing God.  With Christ we are presented as holy in God’s sight and therefore have full access to all of God’s kingdom if and only if we have faith.
