Core Listening Guide

I. Temptation comes in our Need

Basic necessities like food, shelter, our jobs can fall into temptation if they are obtained in a way that does not honor the Lord.

II. Temptation comes in our Ambitions

The deceiver knows our desires and wants to capitalize on them. By using those wants against us he attacks where we are vulnerable.

III. Temptation comes in our Intellect

Our temptations will often manifest themselves through means of logic. When we begin to rationalize our sin, we have given ourselves over to temptation.

IV. Jesus’ response to every temptation was the appropriate scriptures.

See 1 Corinthians 10:13 for encouragement.

Venture Listening Guide

We all have “wildernesses” in our lives, i.e., places and seasons which God uses to teach us difficult lessons.

I.  Tempted to Feed Our Hunger

There is a larger way to live our lives than to feed all our hungers all the time.  When, where and how we meet our hungers all matter to God.

II.  Tempted to Claim the Power Which is Ours

In a culture founded on “inalienable rights” and “freedoms” which we all have, the follower of Christ is much more concerned about responsibilities and righteousness.

III.  Tempted to Test God’s Provision

As Christ followers, we are to trust in the Lord…we do not require Him to prove anything to us.  Though He proves His faithfulness over and over again, it is not because we have required it.
