You CAN Go Home Again………..if

I.  …you treat us as well or better than others.

The hometown crowd had heard such great things abou their own son, and were expecting a display of similar and greater magnificence than he had shown around Galilee.
Do you look at others and expect God to treat you better?

II.  …you tell us what we want to hear.

The examples that Jesus gave the people challenge the notion that the Istraelites were alone in God’s plan.
Are there things in your life that hinder you from hearing God’s complete message?

III. AND STAY OUT!!!

Rather than accept these words of Jesus, the people of Nazareth choose to riot
Is there dogma or doctrine in your life that you would resort to violence rather than change?

Venture Listening Guide

“Do Not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”  Romans 12:2a

Any genuine spiritual transformation in you will catch some people by surprise, even some friends and family.  That is one way you can know the transformation is genuine.

When God begins to shape a “new you”, those most invested in the “old you” will react.  Some will rejoice, some will revolt and some will have their own ideas about what the “new you” should look like.

Jesus did not use his experiences to help him understand scripture…he used scripture to help him understand his experiences.

Sometimes God speaks to us through friends and family and sometimes he speaks to us in the face of friends and family.  It is important to develop the discernment to know the difference.
