Go. Just Go.

Matthew 9:35-38; Matthew 10:1-15; 24-31

Core Listening Guide

We go with compassion (Matthew 9:35-38)

Christ directs us to follow his example, meeting the needs of those around us; seeing people through his eyes. And we are to pray for more people to join us in His work.

We go in authority (Matthew 10:1-4)

We are all empowered by Christ. We don’t drive out evil spirits or miraculously heal others. Or do we? Salvation of the lost IS the power to overcome all evil. See Romans 10:13

We go with a task (Matthew 10:5-15)

In the day, Christ told the disciples where to go and where not to go. The Great Commission overrode this specific direction for us. At the same time, it told us to take action, to go. However, we also need to consider that there is a time when we move on if no one will “listen to our words.”

We go without fear (Matthew 10:24-31)

Whatever trouble may come up, God would provide. Then and now. Christ wants us to be fearless about our mission work. We are to trust in God.

We go with a need to be tired

Christ isn’t concerned about our convenience. He’s really not even worried about our comfort. He mostly wants us to tirelessly pursue Him and to spread His Word to all who will listen.

How would the world change if we were all bold disciples of Christ, tirelessly proclaiming His Word with fearless authority?

Venture Listening Guide

Jesus’ purpose and the revolution He instigated were not complicated.  He came with a simple message and a simple strategy to help people hear it.  As His followers, our purpose is equally simple: to do what He did.

Jesus’ instructions are explicit.  He gives us the message and He fills us with the ministry power to bring people to it.  Our role is to freely give what He has given us.

It is possible to be so weighed down with material possessions and worldly concerns so as to be of little use in this revolution.

Being on mission with God is not something we do all alone.  We partner with others and make new friends along the way. This has always been the strategy of this revolution.

At the end of His ministry, Jesus had a small group of devoted converts and a much larger group of haters and opposition.  Why should we expect different results from our efforts?
