Blake Coffee and Bruce Judisch taught on Sunday, August 3. The videos and listening guides from that lesson, followed by the scripture, are below.
Core Lesson (Bruce Judisch)
Service
Mark 10:35-45; John 13:12-16; James 2:14-17
What are some of the reasons we defer acts of servanthood?
Should we ever defer acts of servanthood? If so, when?
How does servanthood relate to spiritual gifts? If God “equips the called” rather than “calls the equipped,” how do you discern the call to serve?
Venture Lesson (Blake Coffee)
Slavery as a Discipline
Mark 10:35-45; John 13:12-16; James 2:14-17
We would not ask God for half the things we ask Him for if we knew the sacrifices that must occur in order to get those things.
Greatness in God’s kingdom is exclusively for those who do not seek it, to those who make themselves a slave to all.
Servants do not serve in order to make a point. They serve because they see a need somewhere which must be met.
Jesus’ death on the cross established the limit for our humble servitude. As His follower, how low can you go?
“Knowing” the Bible results in talking. Truly “believing” the Bible, on the other hand, always results in doing.
